If you publish frequent news
and articles, your site may very well qualify as a news source.

According to the Pew Internet & American Life Project, 50 million Americans get news online on any given day. In comparison, only 27 million Americans watch network TV news on a typical evening. The Internet is quickly becoming the preferred news source over television, magazines, and trade publications.

News web sites like Yahoo News, Google News and MSNBC Searchbot receive millions of visitors every day.

Clyde Bentley,is an innovator and evangelist for what is often called citizen journalism. Some prefer the term “participatory journalism,” “open source journalism” or even just plain “journalism.” No matter what you call it, in practice it involves people of all ages and interests collecting, writing and publishing news, usually online, by and for themselves.

He has a nice twist to its usage though which goes a step beyond blogging.

The online version of the experiment, www.mymissourian.com,
is an expansive collection of stories, photos, recipes, opinions,
how-to’s and celebrations of life created by and submitted by thousands
of contributors around the Columbia, Mo., area. With few exceptions,
every article or photo that is submitted is published online.

Once
a week, the “hybrid” Bentley speaks of comes into play when My
Missourian editors select the best content, which is printed in a
weekly edition that’s delivered free to every household in the
community.

Besides subscribing to around 40 blogs I get my news now through RSS feeds I want to get. Just the topics I’m interested in withh one general news feed to make sure I dont miss out on something that is current.

This means that the daily newspaper is no longer delivered. That leads on to something spotted on Hypergene. Buffett says “Newspapers are a business in permanent decline”
